Airsoft Birthday Parties in Yorkshire: A Complete Guide for Parents
Looking for a birthday party idea that gets the kids off their screens and out into the fresh air? An airsoft birthday party might be exactly what you need. At HQ Airsoft – The Outpost, our 15-acre woodland site near Castleford is built for active, exciting days out, and a group of friends running around the trees with hire rifles tends to be a birthday they talk about for months.
This guide walks parents through everything you need to know before booking, from minimum ages to what’s included, so you can plan with confidence.
What age can children play airsoft?
At HQ Airsoft we welcome players aged 10 and over. That makes airsoft a great fit for birthdays from the pre-teen years right through to teenagers and beyond. Younger players are always supervised by our marshals, and the day is structured so that newcomers learn the rules and safety procedures before any games begin.
If the birthday child and their friends have never played before, that’s completely normal – most party groups are first-timers. Our airsoft for beginners guide is a useful read beforehand, but our team will talk everyone through the essentials on the day.
What’s included, and what do they need to bring?
One of the best things about booking a party with us is that the kit is sorted. We have up to 30 hire packages available, and each one includes a modern hire rifle, a full-face protective mask and 3,000 BBs to get through the day. If anyone runs low, extra BBs are available from just £8.
Players will want to bring or wear:
- Sturdy footwear suitable for woodland – trainers or boots, nothing open-toed
- Long sleeves and trousers (old clothes that can get muddy)
- A warm layer in colder months, or sun protection in summer
- A packed lunch, snacks and plenty of drinks
Please note we don’t provide body protection beyond the face mask, so long sleeves and trousers are recommended for comfort.
Skirmish Day or Trial Day?
We run two main formats, and which one suits your party depends on the group’s age and appetite. A full Skirmish Day gives players a complete day of mixed games and scenarios – ideal for older kids and teens who want the full experience. If you’d prefer a shorter, gentler introduction, our two-hour Trial Day is a great taster that won’t overwhelm younger or first-time players.
Either way, the games are varied and inclusive, with marshals keeping everything fair, safe and fun. Think team objectives, capture-the-flag style missions and plenty of running around in the trees.
Is airsoft safe for a children’s party?
Safety is at the heart of everything we do. Eye and face protection must be worn at all times during games, and our hire masks are full-face for exactly that reason. We enforce sensible FPS (muzzle power) limits – 350 for standard rifles – and every player gets a full safety briefing before they step onto the game zone. Marshals supervise throughout the day.

Frequently asked questions
How many children can come to the party?
We have up to 30 hire kits available, so we can accommodate large groups. For bigger parties it’s best to book early and let us know numbers in advance.
Do parents need to stay?
A responsible adult should accompany the group. Many parents enjoy playing alongside the kids – airsoft is genuinely a great all-ages activity.
What happens if it rains?
We’re an outdoor woodland site and games run in most weather. Just dress for the conditions with waterproofs and warm layers, and the day goes ahead rain or shine.
Do the children need any experience?
None at all. Most birthday groups are complete beginners, and our marshals teach everyone the rules and safety procedures before games start.
An airsoft party is active, memorable and brilliantly different from the usual birthday options. Pick your date, gather the group, and we’ll handle the rest.
